High Tech Awarded Innovation School Status

The Innovation Schools Act, passed in 2008, provides a pathway for schools and districts to develop innovative practices, better meet the needs of individual students and allow more autonomy to make decisions at the school-level. The stated purpose of the Act is to provide additional flexibility to schools and districts for the purpose of meeting student needs and it is the intent of the Colorado Department of Education to interpret the provisions of the Act broadly so as to maximize this flexibility.

High Tech has been awarded Innovation School status.

The Act allows public schools, such as High Tech Elementary School, to submit innovation plans to Denver Public Schools (DPS) that are designed to increase student outcomes and strategically align the school’s resources with their approach to teaching and learning. Once approved, DPS submits the innovation plans and waiver requests to the Colorado State Board of Education for approval. For more information click here.

After a very lengthy application process to DPS, the results came back… High Tech Elementary School has been awarded Innovation School status by the Colorado State Board of Education. Join us in congratulating Dr. Amy Gile and her school staff in this incredible achievement.

Willow’s Mission

The mission of Willow Elementary School (WES) is to successfully blend a project-based learning environment with a rigorous 21st century curriculum with high standards for all students. We are committed to providing an environment that emphasizes learning as an interactive process focusing on the individual needs of our students to ensure that all students succeed.

We strive to develop critical thinkers who are caring, confident and lifelong learners in a diverse community. WES is deep-seated in technology-enhanced, personalized project-based learning. All students are immersed in the learning process through exploration, discussion, and reflection. Together the students think, work and create in a way that demonstrates their new understanding. Students develop qualities and attributes throughout their daily work, such as integrity, character, equity and accountability.

We foster in our students a joy and passion for learning.

The curriculum is rigorous, yet developmentally appropriate, providing the foundation for success. When preparing for new learning, students build upon their prior experiences through an asset-based model.

Thank You to our Sponsors

As you might already know, part of the vision of fundraising for the High Tech PTA is corporate sponsorship. We believe that we have a tremendous opportunity given our central location in one of Denver’s fastest growing communities.

Please visit our sponsors!

There is a special group of neighboring businesses that have been very good to High Tech Elementary and we hope you will be good to them in return. Just click on a sponsor’s logo (right column) to visit their website and learn more today.

We would also ask that you help contact potential new sponsors. We use this sponsorship money to help fund our Annual Silent Auction, paras in the classroom and additional technology purchases.
